Gorgeous, blooming Cherry Blossoms and an adorable almost three year old -- what more could a photographer ask for? Not much, I say. The weather was perfect on Sunday for an outdoor session.
Miss. R. was a delight even when she showed me her "silly" faces. One of the most independent almost three year old girls I've photographed. As long as it was her way and her idea she was game. So we went on a hunt to find Scooby Doo -- he was not under the trees, or behind the bush, in fact we never did find him. ;) However we did find a lollipop and that was a good substitute.

He's 5 years, 1 month, 3 weeks or as he likes to say 5 & 3/4's.

Likes: Maps, globes, math, collecting coins, riding his scooter, Phineas and Ferb, Hot dogs with ketchup and mustard, reading to Mommy and school.

Dislikes: Most vegetables, cleaning up, arts and crafts, haircuts, being patient and anything pink.

Favorite Saying: "But Mooooom." (Mom with several syllables.)

Favorite Color: Bluegreenblack (?)

Hoping to get for his upcoming birthday: an Indian Head Cent

What does he want to be when he grows up? Run the Krusty Krab or dig for Dinosaur fossils.

My nephew...

I'm completely smitten. He's the cutest and just so sweet. He turned one week old on Saturday. You know that's my favorite age to photograph the newbies. He's just perfect in every way and was very sleepy for me -- yay!

Lots to share:

He's doing so well. Already gaining weight and reading. Ok well maybe not reading but we got some smiles out of him. He's funny too, as he peed all over my brother-in-law yesterday which made me laugh. (Sorry, Andrew.) Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from him with gorgeous, smart parents.

And my big news.........................

My nephew has arrived! Jackson was born last night at 7:17pm -- 7lbs 7 ounces. He is perfect and healthy in every way. It was a long and exhausting labor for my sister. However she was awesome, I couldn't be more proud of her and filled with joy at her and my brother in law's happiness. I will be sharing some photos of Jackson in the next couple days. The labor and delivery photos not make an appearance on the blog. =) It was a wonderful experience to share the day and their special moments with them.

Little boys....

Little boys are so amazing, wondrous and inspiring. My three year old son has the most amazing imagination. He can play for hours, creating the most interesting stories inside his head with nothing but a blanket and a spoon for props. When I photograph him I want to capture this part of him but I don't think it can really come across from the camera. So instead I have to tuck those memories away in my head for a time when he doesn't remember this awesome imagination and have to be happy just following him around with my camera.

Today we took a stroll around the neighborhood, he was batman (because of his cool bat hat) and a fireman (of course a fireman since he had his red rubber boots on... duh Mommy.) He picked up a branch which was his "bat sword" and just went about regular bat business of catching the bad guys.

I love this age and could fill a book with all the wonderful tales he tells me everyday.

My nephew!

I'm a teeny weeny bit excited for the arrival of my nephew in March. We had her shower last weekend and of course gushed over all those baby goodies. My boys ask daily about how their cousin is growing and want to google photos of the baby's development. Then this past weekend I took these photos of my sister. Seriously I know I'm biased but isn't she GORGEOUS?

You know I can't wait to get my hand on my nephew (I say hand because the other will be holding a Nikon. ;)

Maternity photo sessions are such a blast! Doesn't Mom deserve to get glammed up and have fun in front of the camera? Sure does!

I'm welcoming a new handsome face to my blog, Mr. A. He was a delight to photograph. Very interested in Spiderman, eating snow and trying to get his Mom to let him play at the playground. Between talking about Spiderman and snow eating he did ham it up for the camera. He's a natural for sure and would pose himself for me. Hahaha! Most three year old boys don't love the photographer too much (and I would know as a Mom of a three year old boy) but this guy surprised me.

I know I should not have favorites. I can't help myself. I do! Miss J. just turned 6. She frequents my blog and website. She is one of my favorites. I love seeing the children I photograph grow (Miss J. last birthday.) I love seeing their personalities develop. Miss J. loves to be in front of the camera.
We were in Wilmington, Delaware and the weather was on our side this weekend so we got some lovely outdoor photos. I'll try to just share a few but I have so many favorites.

It's Newborn Season..

It's possibly my favorite time of year despite chilly temps and slushy roads. It's newborn season. I'm not sure why I get many newborn clients this time of year but I love it. They are probably my favorite little ones to photograph and I enjoy meeting these new Mommies and Daddies.

This little gal did not disappoint. Just about a week old, very lovely and eventually sleepy, just the way I like them.

Yes, I love smiles. Who doesn't? Yes, smiles aren't mandatory in a photo session with me but when we are having fun together smiles just make it all the more fun. This weekend I photographed a beautiful sister age 5 and a little brother just turned one. Adorable!

Just wanted to share a few from an adorable little newborn from yesterday. Miss M. slept the entire session and looked beautiful while doing it. I wish all newborns were as lovely sleepers as this one. What a beauty!

It's amazing to me how many newborns I photograph this time of year. If you are expecting and want a spot please call me prior to the birth of your baby if possible. =) To get these beautiful sleeping babe photos the younger the better. I believe this little one was about 8 days old.

I hope all my clients, friends and family had a wonderful holiday. My kids are back to school today and I'm sure some of yours are as well. I love the holidays with kids, it makes it so much more special and exciting. However back to school day is nice too. =)

For the New Year, Beautiful Babies and More will be announcing some new items. We are getting a blog makeover soon, watch out for the new link. There will be some new products and offerings in 2009.

Sharing a few from a session done right before the holidays.

Scheduling is now open for the Winter/Spring season. As in most years past February-March seems to be Maternity and Newborn time for us. So give me a call to get your session scheduled soon (even if you are still expecting, I prefer to have you tentatively scheduled prior to the birth of your child.) Miss J. is one of my rock stars. She loves getting photographed. I love photographing her beautiful smile, bright blue eyes and bouncy blond curls. She will do anything I ask with a huge smile on her face. I'm sure you've seen her before on my blog and website. I got a treat the other day and was able to photograph her and her family. They picked an awesome location. The skate park in FDR park and the surrounding grounds. A lot of graffiti and skater boys. What a perfect background for this rocking family, of course it was about 30 degrees not making for the best weather for outdoor photos. They were troopers though and we eventually got some giggles out of Miss J.'s little sister too.

I can't believe it's the end of October. Halloween is already here in less than a week. I have about three spots open before my Holiday sessions close on November 16th. No exceptions all sessions that need their photos by Christmas must be scheduled prior to 11/16 and place their orders by 11/28. I met two lovely little sisters yesterday. Aren't they adorable? We had our photo session at Pennypack Park in the city. I love seeing and capturing the special moments between siblings. This little sister just followed the big sister around and tried to do everything big sister did. I love that.

Mr. and Mrs. B. tied the knot on Friday evening. Lovely small ceremony in the bride's parents home. The wedding was initially scheduled to be outdoors but due to rain and wind was moved indoors. Hat's off to the Bride's step-mother for make their living room and dining room a perfect place to exchange vows. Friday was a bit chaotic and the bride was nervous but everyone made it through. The ceremony was lovely and the reception at the Kings Mill in Aston, Pa. was a blast!

We celebrated a first day of kindergarten and a first day of preschool here today. It was very exciting. My boys love school and have been eagerly awaiting this day. I did choke up for about a minute but I was happy for them. They come home exhausted, chatting about their full day. I hope all future school years start as well as this one.

Is it time for school to start yet? I'm excited as my kids are to go back. (Well I might be a bit more excited.)

I skipped a few sneak peeks last week. However I got the galleries out to those of you waiting much quicker so I think that was worth a little blog slacking. =)

I've gotten great response from my fall promotion who went out to everyone who is signed up for my newsletter. I'm so pleased! The promotion ends 9/15 however the September, October and even November dates are filling up so don't want to contact me to schedule a session. If you haven't signed up for my newsletter make sure to do so to get in on the next promotion. I will not schedule any holiday sessions after November 16th.

I am not a dogographer. I do love photographing my doggie nieces, Chelub and Layla. Aren't they pretty girls? We played around with my super wide angle lens. Luckily the dogs are not self conscious about looking too "wide".

I was told that she likes "fancy" and when I was greeted by this beautiful almost 5 year old I was not disappointed with multiple outfit changes and even jewelry changes. Isn't she beautiful? More than happy to to show me her home and even pose for me. Her adorable little brother was a little bit more shy (well a lot more shy) but his sneaky smiles melt your heart. A glance at the wedding I photographed on Saturday. Beautiful weather, a lovely day and a gorgeous happy couple. Happy Birthday! I've had the pleasure of photographing him about 4 times. What a bright and charming little guy he has become. He read to me, sang me songs, gave me the cheesiest of smiles and even inspected some of my tattoos. =) Two can be a tough age to photograph, as this age is very curious of their surroundings and very determined to be independent. Mr. N. was both of these but he also liked to play with me and I suspect is a little bit of a ham.

Mr. N. thanks for letting me hang out. It's been so nice to see you grow into a handsome little man over the last two years.

... ok well not really but before you know it Fall will be here. Last year's clients are already calling to set up their Fall sessions. (thanks!) I know it's hard to think about Holiday Cards and Holiday sessions but it does creep up rather quickly. I had to turn away several families last year that waited too long to book so the earlier the better. I will not be taking Holiday sessions after November 16th so please keep that in mind. Book early to get a date that works best for you.

Here's a sample of the new Holiday cards we will be offering this year. The first 4 samples are flat cards. These are press printed cards on lovely linen textured card stock. The last sample is a full 4 sided card also press printed on a linen card.

Teeny toes.

Teeny nose and teeny fingers. I love teeny. Who does not love teeny? Introducing Mr. M. just a few weeks old and precious as can be with a protective doggie to watch over him and two spoiling, lovely Grandma's to boot. What else could any little boy ask for?

My younger son likes to sit on my lap and look the the photos while I work. He especially loves baby photos. He likes to pick which ones he wants. I hope that does not sound creepy. =) He is such a gentle guy and loves babies. He always says no matter how old the baby is "awwww she's so tiny." Well he of course thought Mr. M. was adorable and pleaded with me that he wants one too. I'm always afraid these discussions will start an early "birds and bees" talk but usually a "go ask your daddy" suffices.

When I see clients return I always have an expectation from the last session. Well this Miss N. far exceeded my expectations. Sure she was sweet a year ago and gave me some great shots (you can see her exploring her feet in my welcome brochure) however this time she was perfectly cute, happy and fun. Very talkative and helped me explore her backyard. Not to mention cooperative, I was rushing a bit due to impending storms and she was happy to oblige -- quickly. So thanks to Miss N. for making my day that much easier.

Lovely early morning tea party with two beautiful sisters. I think they are the quietest young girls I've ever photographed. They look worried when I told them I might have to pull out my knock knock jokes. I hope they had fun, I know I did. Couldn't chose my two or three favorites so I had to post more. Enjoy!

Birth photography...

If you are currently expecting or know someone who is expecting 32 weeks and earlier then please read on. I'm looking to photograph a birth. Know anyone who might be interested in having the birth of their child photographed?

Details:
*Prior to contacting me please make sure that your hospital or birth center allows a professional photographer to be present. No flash will be used.
*Please contact me only if you are 32 weeks or earlier. I want to set up a time to meet and discuss details so any later than that we might be rushed.
*All photographs would be in black and white in documentary style. This is not a portrait session, I would be just there to document the event as it happens.
* The amount of "coverage" is up to Mom and will be discussed in the meeting.

Happy 4th of July. Wanted to share a conversation I had earlier today with my 5 year old.

L: Mommy, tomorrow is America's birthday. Who gets presents?
Me: No one gets presents. It's just a time to celebrate our country and be with family.
L: Someone HAS to get presents. It's a birthday.
Me: Well I think the parades, parties and fireworks are like presents. They are fun, right?
L: Does Washington D.C. get a present? Or the president?
Me: No.
L: I think someone should get presents. It's a birthday and you need to unwrap something. Mommy where you there when America was born? Did they have presents back then?
Me: I think Daddy was there, ask him.

=)

Speaking of birthdays I had a session with a newly one year old! He was a trooper though I couldn't compete with the ducks running wild around us. As an on location photographer I am used to making the most of my backgrounds but I've never had a problem keeping ducks out of photos.

My Jeremy decided he wanted to use Mommy's big camera. So I let him. He had fun taking photos of his feet, me and various items in our dining room. I was surprised when I uploaded that not only some were good but even in focus and composed fairly well. I think that's pretty good considering the camera weighs about half his body weight. =) He's obviously quite talented.

Miss A. is completely adorable. She loves hanging with my youngest but did not want me to take her photograph. I was able to sneak her into some smiling and eye contact but this trickery lasted about 10 minutes. Luckily she is completely adorable even with a grumpy face. =)

Urban Ballerina

If you follow my blog you'll remember Ballerina in the Woods from last year. Well my favorite young dancer returned this year and we did a Urban Ballerina (well somewhat sub*urban.) You might have seen us around town last night, we had a few honkers and even a clapper. =) The weather cooperated for the most part. I couldn't have asked for a better model.

Outdoor Tea party...

I wish I could do more outdoor tea parties, much fun!(hint hint to all of you reading out there.) The table, tea set, petti-skirt and even the apron is mine. Dolls not included. -- Call me to schedule an outdoor tea party session.

Miss J. is one of my favorites to photograph. First she loves to be photographed and second she is a little beauty (and knows it too haha.) Mommy and Daddy will have their hands full in a couple of years.

Happy Birthday to my boys! They turned 3 and 5 yesterday, May 25th.

Jeremy is 3. He got many dinosaur toys, books and a rocking firetruck scooter. When asked his favorite part of his birthday weekend he answered, "cake!"

Lucas is 5. He got some map books, a globe, a new razr scooter and legos. When asked his favorite part of the weekend he said "my pirate party!"

We had two parties over the weekend. A pirate party for the kids and their friends and a family party. Here is the cake from their pirate party. It was made by the Talented Trish of Tasty Treats. She does an exceptional job and even delivers. I can't say enough about her. The cake was perfect and delicious. She does all custom orders. Randomness. Music thoughts.

I love music. I have pretty eclectic taste. Ranging from Opera to Pop to Musical Theater to Alternative to Motown. One of the many things I hope to pass on to my boys is a love of music. I love when I see them jamming in their car-seats to The Cure. I love when my 5 year old walks around the house singing "Hey Jude."

Since I love music I also love researching kids music.

You might have heard some great songs posted on my site and blog from time to time. I have some new favorites now I want to share.

Ashley Gramins, Mama Rocks. A new favorite in the Lindenmuth family car. Enjoyable music for the whole family.

Elizabeth Mitchell, You are my sunshine. I just downloaded this last week and catch myself listening to the songs while I'm working on the laptop. I like her folk renditions of some classic kids songs.

They Might Be Giants, Here comes the ABC's. Did you love TMBG in late 80's/early 90's? Istanbul is Constantinople? Their kids songs rock! You know you sang the theme song to Mickey's Clubhouse before or Malcolm in the Middle theme song? They are keeping it alive and have a new fan base now. Great tunes!

Frances England, Fascinating Creatures. My favorite find in the last couple of years. Thanks to the inspirational Aussie photographer, Jinky for featuring Frances' music on her site last year I bought this cd and fell in love. Great, fun songs! I promise this will be a hit with your little ones.

If your little one is a Noggin fan you might have seen this on Jack's Big Music show, it's Elizabeth Mitchell and Lisa Loeb (of "Stay" fame).

Sad News

Yesterday my beloved Grandmom passed away. She was a very special lady who will live in my heart forever. I am so lucky to have had her in my life and have her touch my children with her constant love.

I will miss you everyday Mom-mom.

*Spring Sessions***

It's almost here, right? Spring is just around the corner so let's talk about spring sessions. Last year I had some great sessions in the beautiful outdoors and hope to make this years sessions even more successful.

As some of you know one of my favorite locations is the Newlin Grist Mill, the lovely waterfalls, duckpond and green scenery make for some outstanding backgrounds. I'm in the process of checking out two other locations one in Northern Delaware and one in Philadelphia. Valley Forge national park is also nice but I've found it's much more pretty in the fall sessions. Of course I'm always looking for new locations so please let me know if you have one. Do you have a local park or beautiful yard, that works too! Remember I'm an on location photographer, I'll come to you or meet you at another location.

Outdoor sessions are almost always scheduled about 1.5-2 hours before sunset. This is the best time of day for light. The weekend appointments are already filling but you have up until June 15th to schedule. I won't be opening the summer schedule until late May, which means we won't be scheduling anything after June 15th until late May/early June.

Why outdoor? Why not! Nature creates a timeless portrait that you will want to hang on your walls for years to come. Bare feet kids running in the grass, dandelion blowing and little ones chomping on a little grassy treat are the moments that are most fun to capture. =)

What to wear?

I was shopping in J.Crew today with a photographer friend of mine and we were excited to see this J.Crew added a section to the store for Crewcuts J.Crew's line of children clothing. They have some adorable pieces in their line and I couldn't help to pick out what would look great in a photography session. I get asked this question all the time by my clients getting ready for their session. So I picked out some pieces off J.Crew's website tonight from their Crewcuts line that I thought would not only look great but be fun and comfortable for the kids. I think it's important to remember certain things when dressing your child for their photo shoot. You want to represent their personality but also want keep it fun!

... To be continued for boys styles at a later date. =) (And no I don't get a kickback from J.Crew I just love their kids clothes.)

Yes I've been neglecting the blog. One of my most dedicated blog readers, my Mom =) made sure to tell me that today. Even though winter is here we've been pretty busy in between the household illnesses. It's amazing how many germs my lovely yet germie children can bring home. For those of you who are mom's of older children, does this get better when they get older? I hope so.

I attended an awesome workshop last weekend with another rocking photographer, Karen Carey. Talk about inspirational work and her charity, Flashes of Hope. Thanks so much Karen, I learned so much!

I've got a couple Mom's we are awaiting new bundles from -- ya newborns! We've added new collections to our pricing structure, check them out. Keep checking back for our spring special announcement.

Hopefully Phil will see his shadow tomorrow. Right? Or do we not want him to see his shadow?

Introducing my first new fresh face of 2008. I got to play with little Miss M. this morning. What a way to kick off the New Year!

Excited to be kicking off another great year for Beautiful Babies and More. We have some new ideas and a new promotion kicking off next month for our spring customers. Looking forward to meeting new clients and seeing others return!
